من اقدم الاشجار في العالم شجرة سجن البوابالاشجار تماما مثل البشر، يمكن ان تصبح مشهورة للاسباب الخاطئة، ففي ديربي، استراليا، هناك مثل هذه الشجرة التي تجذب الانتباه لجميع الاسباب الخاطئة ، فمن المعروف ان شجرة سجن بواب استخدمت لسجن سجناء من السكان الاصليين وهم في طريقهم الى الحكم عليهم في ديربي ، وكلمة "بواب" هي كلمة استرالية تم اخذها من كلمة باوباب، ويمكنك ان ترى تشابه بين اشجار البواب واشجار الباوباب التي توجد في مدغشقر، ومن المعروف عن اشجار البواب الاسترالية انها ذات جذع قصير، ومنتفخ وغالبا ما يكون اجوف ، وجدران شجرة البواب سميكة مثل اشجار الباوبابس من مدغشقر، والسكان الاصليين الاستراليين استخدموها لجمع وتخزين المياه خلال اشهر الجفاف ، وتعتبر هذه الشجرة من اقدم الاشجار في العالم .
