خطب ابراهيم بن عبد الله بن الحسن
رضي الله عنه بالبصرة فقال :
أيها الناس كل كلام
في غير ذكر فهو لغو
و كل صمت في غير فكر فهو سهو
و الدنيا حلم
و الآخرة يقظة
و الموت متوسط بينهما
و نحن في أضغاث أحلام
المستطرف
و قال الحسن البصري :
من لم يكن كلامه حكمة فهو لغو
و من لم يكن سكوته تفكيرا فهو سهو
و من لم يكن نظره اعتبارا فهو لهو
