بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
تذكرت حرب الروم لما تطاولت


وإذ نحن في عام كثير نزائله


وإذ نحن في أرض الحجاز وبيننا


مسيرة شهر بينهن بلابله


وإذ أرطبون الروم يحمى بلاده


يحاوله قرم هناك يساجله


فلما رأى الفاروق أزمان فتحها


سما بجنود الله كيما يصاوله


فلما أحسوه وخافوا صواله


أتوه وقالوا أنت ممن بواصله


وألقت إليه الشأم أفلاذ بطنها


وعيشاً خصيباً ما تعد مآكله


أباح لنا ما بين شرق ومغرب


مواريث أعقاب بنتها قرامله


وكم مثقل لم يضطلع باحتماله


تحمل عبئاً حين شالت شوائله
